I'm not sure if one needs to be at least 18 and had some additional training, however, there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the medical biller (or coder or medical assistants) despite what those private $$ schools proclaim. My cousin recently got laid off from her medical billing job of five years due to outsourcing to Asia/India.
If still interested, please only consider the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college as long as it's accredited within the industry.
General career info (they don't specifically have medical biller but 'billing clerk'): http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'billing clerks' or such.
A:
Most likely over age 18 because you are dealing with medical records and privacy laws. Also if you want to be a medical billing clerk you need to go to a training program or community college for medical billing and coding.
