can you take the nursing assistant test to be certified without finishing the class?

i wasn't able to finish my nursing assistant class but i want to find a nursing assistant job but need to be certified, can i just take the test?

It depends on what state you live in. My state allowed CNA test-out for people who have not taken the course but have self studied. My state board of nursing provides a detailed testing handbook which describes all the practical skills that could be tested and how to perform them step by step, which elements are critical for passing the skill. It also details the written exam and breaks it down into categories of questions, and even provided a sample test for practice.
So contact your state board of nursing or google their website to find out if this is an option in your state.

no you cant. But call your school they will more then likely let you sit in for the hours you missed..... I know mine did with one of the girls I went to school with.

CNAs require experience and proper complete training.

No, it doesn't look like you can. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook by the government - "Similar Federal requirements exist for nurse aides who work in nursing care facilities. These aides must complete a minimum of 75 hours of state-approved training and pass a competency evaluation. Aides who complete the program are known as certified nurse assistants (CNAs) and are placed on the State registry of nurse aides."
It might depend a bit on your state rules too, so you might want to call your local Health Department. They can tell you for sure.
