Will a private ambulance service hire an EMT-Basic with no experience on a part-time basis?

perhaps but you will have a better chance with some experience- there are tons of opportunities to volunteer. i suggest applying but volunteer while you wait to be hired.

Why ask Y/A this question .. Go put in an application and you will have your answer.. If you are qualified you will probably have a chance as most companies like part timers. They don't have to pay the benefits of full time personnel and they can be used when needed..

Every ambulance service has their own requirements for employment. Some require Paramedic licensing. Some require experience. Your best choice to to find those ambulance companies in your area, including Chicago Fire Department (as they have their own EMS services), and find out requirements for employment. Those that you meet, then put in the application & start the employment procedures for that particular company.
