What happens when you want a career in law enforcement but fear it sometimes?

In my heart I want to do this. But the fear and others telling me it is too dangerous has made me doubt myself and even deny myself of the career I want. What would you do in my situation? I think it would be more dangerous for any cop to go into this job with 0 fear

It is always good to have some fear because that means you're alert to somethings. Don't doubt yourself and deny yourself what you really want. Any job is dangerous. This is what I do in your situation. First, stop watching the show "Cops". It is a good show, but it could make you fear more because it shows things in extreme. Second, talk with your local police officers, some that have been cops for a long time. Tell them what your fears are. Chances are they had the same fears as you before they became cops.

Well, if you fear what you want then maybe you really don't want it as much as you think you might want it. I know I want some food right now but I fear getting wet, as it is raining, so yeah. Toilet paper. =)

don't fear it.....fight your fears....i want to go into law enforcement too and will not let anyone get in my way to crush my dream of entering...i'll try but will not be guaranteed to get in but i'll keep trying....go for it...you only live once....i only fear not getting in but only a person brave enough to accept they want this job has the boldness to step forward and do it...
