Federal Jobs Question? Navy Vet 6 Years Electronics background what could I apply for?
Asked by Jason Z
I spent 6 years in the Navy and I now work in the security field as a Field Service Tech. My wife is wanting to move back to the DC area and I was looking at federal jobs. The thing is I have no clue what I should apply for. Everyone I talk to recommends to apply if your a veteran. She is also retired navy due to medical. We both get the points. I get 5 she gets 10.
I have physical security training from the navy and I also worked as an electronics tech on weapon systems. My wife has a office type background currently working the real estate industry.
So my question is if you were moving back to the DC area what jobs should we be looking for Federal wise and what kind of pay can you expect starting off? We are wanting to move in the next year and any advice would be great.
Thank you for your time.

Best Answer:
I would contact a VA Hospital and speak with someone in personnel.
If you are close to a VA presently, you would go to that one. They usually have a book of available jobs that list their requirements.
I know you will have a good chance at jobs because of the extra points you would get.
