advice about a marine fitter?

hi there is an apprenticeship in my area for a marine fitter well here is what it says:As an apprentice, you will follow a structured training and development scheme with on the job training and day release at college leading to a NVQ level 2 and/or 3 qualification in a marine engineering discipline.Duties will include assisting with the maintenance and repair of pilot launches, oil spill response vessels, navigation buoys and associated marine equipment.Applicants will need to have a minimum 2 GCSEs or equivalent to start at NVQ level 2 or a minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent (Grade A to C) to start at NVQ level 3 level. In addition an interest and aptitude for engineering (mechanical and/or electrical) is also necessary. all i really want to know is after i had done all this and became qualified were could i go from there career wise because i want to earn more money and progress further career wise.

That is a cracking job,, and could lead on to Merchant navy, Oil rig support vessels, tugs, Oil drilling rigs, Oil production platforms. And in particular, FPSO's ( floating production and storage operations)
