What should I do about my career? Help!?
Asked by Meghan M
Okay, I work for a insurance company where I am getting paid $11.11hr. I am full time and I can make it with the bills. However, I am miserable. I hate coming to work, everyone looks at me like "slut" or "wow what is she doing here!" or "I am not going to talk to to her, she is underage!"
So to explain that, I am 19 and I am the youngest by 8years here. No one talks to me, boss even does kady things. She waited 6months to even talk to me and sit me down to see if I like it and doing well. Not to mention the lady's in my department treat me like their slave and show no respect. STEPFORDWIVES!!! I
Today I was offered a position as a front desk clerk for less money, 2nd shift, may not be able to make it unless I get 2jobs and work work work. But i would enjoy what I would do. I just want a little stearing here.
The job offered to me was not full time, but might get 32-37 hrs a week. Less money, and I need to make 1200 month to cover all my bills. I am really scared.
I work 8-4:30pm at the insurance job, and the other one would be from 2pm-11pm. So I couldnt do both, but where i live we have so much unemployment with the aircraft there might not be another chance

Take the other job and work the job you hate nad the other one until you find a job that can replace the job you hate. Even though you iwll be happier at your other position, you dont know that until you get in there and there is nothing worse than not being able to pay your bills. That would stress you even more. Just hold on and things will get better soon

Why not take a look at the military?
You'll get training, Montgomery GI Bill to help you pay for college, and opportunities for advancement.
These days, a military career is a good one.
At the 2009 scale, the starting pay is $1245 per month as pay grade E-1 under 4 months service. After 4 months it goes to $1400. When you make E-2 it goes to $1569. E-3 goes to $1650. Then E-3 over 2 yrs. is $1754. E-4 over 2 yrs. is $1921 per month. E-5 over 3 yrs. is $2230 per month.
Talk with a recruiter, just to get information, without obligation. Digest the info and make up your own mind.
You might want to consider a part time career in the Army or Air National Guard. It's the best part time opportunity in the world.
