3 jobs at 16 years old ?
Asked by only_juicy
I currently have two jobs, one on Mondays only (2:30-5:30), and one on Tuesdays and Thursdays (3:00-7:00). I'm 16 and have been offered a job by a local, but famous Bakery. I would be working on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2:30-7:30. I don't know if I should take the job, because that would mean I'd be working 5 days a week, and I don't know if my school work would suffer. At the moment, I get straight A's. I also do volunteer tutoring at the elementary school in my town Fridays from 3:00-4:00. My question is, should I take the job so I learn time management, and responsibility. I would be getting paid $8.25 an hour, which is really good. I would love the extra cash, but I have to keep my grades up so I can get into a good college, and get a scholarship. Also, in the fall I do swimming from 5:00-7:00 am for my schools team. Is this too much to be doing at 16? At the moment I am able to balance school, swim(in the fall), my two jobs, my family, and boyfriend. I don't want to be too overwhelmed, and am skeptical about taking this job. Please help me, tell me what I should do.
*Also, I don't do these jobs to help my family, I am very blessed, and live in an upper middle class town. This is so I do not become a brat like my friends, and have to rely on my parents for the things I want, that I don't necessarily need, but enjoy having. Also because it keeps me grounded, and responsible.
By the way, the job I do on Mondays, I get $11.50 an hour, and have been working there for about a year and a half now, and the job I do on Tuesdays and Thursdays I get $7.75 an hour, and have been working there for about 10 months.

Take the job only if you think you can still keep up with it all, and really want the money, and would still have time to enjoy life some - sounds like that would be too full a schedule, but only you can decide that.
But with all you're already doing at age 16, the two other jobs, the tutoring and the straight A's, and swim team, you sound like you already have a VERY good track record for time management and responsibility. Keep up the good work!

I suggest you to try project payday, simply because you don't need any money up front and you can start making money within minutes. I average around 3,500 dollars every month with it. Check it out at http://fsturl.com/6o

It sounds like your a little apprehensive on taking it, so you should think about taking time off from your volunteering, or taking time off of your other job.
While volunteering is important, you can usually do that towards your schedule, so try volunteering at a library, where you can study after and before you volunteer.
As for the other two jobs, do you really love both of them? If one's really not enough money to make it worth the work, then quit that one and work for the bakery :)
and i applaud you on your multitasking (: i don't think i'd ever be able to do that

Wow, it seems like you have a lot on your plate. To tell you the truth I think you shouldn't take the job so you can stay a little more focus on your school work and have time to enjoy yourself as a teenager; and you should take the job because you want too.
To tell you the truth I wouldn't take the job because if you keep your grades like that you are granteed a scholarship regardless.
I think its too much doing at 16 because most people your age enjoying and having fun. Enjoy life.
