How do I become a funeral director?
Asked by M & L L
I am 28 and just started back to school at my local community college for some basic pre-requisits but wondering if I'm wasting my time; does a funeral director even require a degree? What "should" I be doing to get that job, and what other kind of help can anyone out there give me....I really want to do this.

You dont specify where you are from. I am from NY, graduating next week with an AAS in Mortuary Science from a community college. You need a degree and a license, unless you live in Colorado. Some states require a BS, most just an associates. Some states have dual licenses; one for funeral director and one for embalmer. Pre req classes normally include psych, sociology, chem with lab, eng. and math. Mortuary Science classes include embalming, anatomy, restorative art etc... You have to pass a national board exam. Hope this helped!

Challenge the current funeral director to a fight to the death.

If you want to embalm, you will need to attend a school of mortuary science & be licensed. If you just want to do the business side, then probably some business courses & get hired.
