How are you qualified to be a paralegal if you don't know the answer to this or at least where to find the answer? That was one of the biggest things we learned in school, how to find the answers.

Do you REALLY think this is this easy? Most Lawyers/Attorneys have to go to school for YEARS to learn this. Besides, every case is different. Every state is different. Every county is different. Which is why Attorneys/Lawyers have to go to school for YEARS to learn this. There are no good online paralegal guides - most of them are just scams. Those "certificates" that you see advertised everywhere aren't worth the paper they are printed on. I am surprised you were able to get an interview for a paralegal position. Most employers (usually law firms) want employees that have Bachelors degrees - from a traditional college/university. The competition is FIERCE. The only employer that (usually) is willing to hire a paralegal without any formal training is one that: * doesn't plan on paying you what a "real" paralegal is worth; and/or * is planning on taking advantage of you somehow (examples: having you notarize and/or witness a document when you shouldn't - you can easily get pushed into "Unauthorized Practice of Law" without any formal training. I don't advise taking this position.) A legitimate source (guide) would be ABA certified. If it isn't authorized by the ABA, then it isn't legitimate, and you'll probably be wasting your time and/or money. Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!! This isn't a good field to invest in anyway. Many reasons. THE main reason?.....We have WAY TOO MANY Legal Professionals - we have a GLUT!! ("Legal Professionals" includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc.) There are so few jobs in the field of Law right now that many Attorneys/Lawyers are working "down" as: Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc, just to try to keep some of THEIR bills paid< THIS would be your competition. And as I mentioned, the competition is FIERCE. The law schools know this >they know the economy/market is SATURATED, yet they continue to recruit and to churn out new graduates. A law student is easy money for a law school - a law school has to make very little investment in a law student, compared to other areas of study. If you want a JOB when you are done with your studies, consider and look into the field of HEALTHCARE! <THIS is where the jobs are! and scholarships! Good luck.
