How much should a hotel housekeeper make an hour?
Asked by me
I'm trying to get a job at the front counter but because business is slow the manager told me he could start me off as a housekeeper just to get my foot in the door until another position is available. I was going to make around 8.75 at the desk. Should I ask for that as the housekeeper as well? I know most only make minimum wage.

Best Answer:
Usually housekeepers make minimum wage or slightly less because they make tips. Front counter doesn't make tips. You probably won't get the same rate since the skills required are different. Front counter probably requires that you have some customer service experience, a professional appearance, can communicate clearly (verbal and written) and PC literate. You should take inventory of your skill set and select the position that fits your career aspirations and your talent. If you don't have any experience then housekeeping sounds like the best place to start.

A:
8 Dollar / Hour

Most housekeepers only get minimum wage. Or less because of tips. But if you want the front counter job maybe you should at least get your foot into the door. But if you don't think that job is worth the wait and you could find a better job. Then you should just keep looking for a job.
