Is it better to start in insurance first before becoming a full-fledged financial planner?

I have the options of becoming a full-fledged financial planner or starting out in just insurance without the securities component. Which is better? My background is mortgages, but my passion is investing.

financial planner or financial advisor? there is a difference. CFP is a difficult certification. do you have securities licenses?
