Career Questions and Answers
Interested in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), what can you tell me?
Asked by This and that
I am currently getting my degree in criminal justice but have noticed that there is not a need for my type of degree as much as nursing. I guess I need to know what CNA is all about would it be worth it to change and try that? What do CNA do? How do you get a degree so you are a cna? How much schooling? Bases of the job, and what they do?
Just all about the job I guess and if its worth changing careers.

I am currently going to school to become a nurse. after high school i got my certified to become a CNA. I was working in a nursing home, and now i am at the hospital. its a lot of work :) not near as much as the nurse tho. you'll have days where you hate it...n others where you love it! You would be cleaning a lot of butts :) Doing what the nurse may ask of you..simple tasks. You would chart..assist any patients or residents with any needs (feeding, bathing ect.). You will need a lot of patience also :) You don't get a degree for a CNA. u get a certificate..my class took about 4 weeks, everyday. 8-5. i think it was about $600. but its worth it. you make that back quick when u get a job. a good thing about it would be seeing if nursing is really what u wanted to do. its a great way to see what the nurse does. you would find out if it was worth switching. i would recommend it. good luck!
plus...there are soo many types of nurses. you could branch out to a lot of different types of nursing jobs. im going for psych nurse!
