I have a BA in Psychology and I want to become a nurse. Should I take a 1 year lpn or go online to to be an?

I am having trouble finding a nursing school in my area. There is also program through a school that is out of a hospital near by but should I get my pre-requ's through the online school and then apply to the RN program or just do the LPN program and try to get a job sooner?

Look to see if a school has an accelerated RN program --- this is a special program for those who already have a bachelor's degree in any other subject. You go and get your BSN to become a RN in a bit over 1 yrs.
I suggest that you do NOT do the LPN -- that alone will take you at least 1 yr and you can be a Registered Nurse in nearly that time. Definitely apply to the RN programs and really research the accelerated programs -- I know a number of people who have done them with a variety of different bachelor degrees.

If you talk to LPN's, they will tell you, just go for the RN.
You can get an RN in 2 years at an associates school or a hospital school. Most have cross-over programs with 4 year universities where you only have to complete 2 more years for the BA in nursing.
LPN's, like CNA's, get stuck doing the dirty and heavy lifting work.
Work with one school if possible. Many pre-reqs are tricky. Like take biochemistry. Some RN programs require one class that covers biochem, organic and inorganic chemistry. If you take a course elsewhere that doesn't meet the requirements for inorganic chem, you're out of luck (this happened to me).

See section titled "Education and training".
The first sentence in the third paragraph:
"Accelerated BSN programs also are available for individuals who have a bachelor's or higher degree in another field and *******".
That would be the best method if such a program is available in your area.
