Is there a big difference between Certified Medical Assistant and Registered Medical Assistant?

I AM IN SCHOOL FOR CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND IM JUST REALIZING THERE IS REGISTERED MEDICAL ASSISTANT. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE AND WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO DO TO BECOME REGISTERED? IF IT HELPS I LIVE IN RHODE ISLAND. THANK YOU!!

No difference that I am aware of; except certified take a certifying exam. Ask the education director at your school. I suspect it is a state by state thing as in CA they are certified.

There is a fairly significant difference between the two jobs. Certified means that you sit a test through a local college, or association and then you would become certified, as like you would when you're finished with your training. When you do registered medical assisting, you have to sit an exam at the association, and you also have to sit an exam with the licensing board as well.
