How much to pay a nanny/home help?
Asked by cavviecath
We are looking to employ a nanny/home help (light household duties only) to care for our 2 children after school. They would pick them up from school (age 5 and 11), give them their tea (homecooked food which would already be prepared by me) until about 6/6.30pm
How much would we expect to pay per hour?? We are in North East UK

Best Answer:
Over minimum wage at the moment but if you think he/she is doing a good job then give a rise.
A:
I believe that if you add 30% to your current minimum wage that would be fair.
Good luck!

Here in the US, I paid $10 per hour for first child and an additional $5 per hour for the second... so that is $15 per hour.

I would think a nanny would ask for around £10 an hour, an au pair will cost less as they are usually less qualified.
Another option would be sending your children to after school club.
