How much should I charge for babysitting?
Asked by griff
I'm 17 years old and about to start my freshman year of college in the fall. I have an offer for a full time babysitting job, Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm and I was just wondering how much I should charge. I was thinking $10-12 per hour.

That's fine, especially if it were more than one child.I babysit,And my fee is 15 per hour.If the family is ok with that amount, use it,but ask is it something that they are comfortable with.If not, don't go any lower than 9 dollars.Don't let anyone cheapen you.Good Luck :-)

personally, i think $10 an hour is WAY too much. think about it. would you be willing to pay $80 a day, $400 a week, $1600 (20 weekdays) a month? it just seems too much. Keep in mind, there are lots of people who would be happy to take your place. so don't charge as much, and everyone will be happy.

that is a completely acceptable amount to charge, as long as you have experience and references. I'm 18 and i charge between $10-20 per hour depending on what the family is comfortable with. Try asking what price they were thinking and adjust your rate to that and how many kids and what ages. $9 or $10 would be for one easy kid who will probably take a nap. $11-2 for two kids $12-15 for three + kids.
