how will we know what answers to give you if you don't give us questions?!?!
A:
Working with Parents, Students and Staff
** Be Courteous
** Be Patient
** Non Judgemental and Empathetic
** Refer to appropriate person, or take down message
PARENTS
** Call them by their last name i.e.: Mrs. *** or Mr. ** do NOT call them by the first name, unless you get consented approval by the parents saying oh, call me ***.
** Be wary of their time. Most parents have very little time between juggling school and work activities.
** Be Conscientious and a open and listening ear. Some parents may be very angry, or iritated about something that is happening at the school. DO NOT think it is directed at you, be calm, cool and collected.
STUDENTS
** Be courteous, but at the same time be firm and explain things in a way that they can understand
** Don't just hear one side of the story, if there were kids that are involved with something bad for whatever reason, make sure that you hear BOTH sides of the story.
STAFF
** Be wary of their time, because teachers are normally running around a fair bit, and will need to get a lot of their work complete and finished. They won't have time to handle many things a lot of times.
** Also be prepared and do what is asked of you when you have to do several of different tasks.
Maintain School Records and Schedules
** All of these records MUST be kept confidential
** File appropriately under name, subject etc.
** Schedules for teachers are usually the same M-F, but those who job share. Also, principals that you schedule, may have workshops, seminars etc., to attend as well.
Coordination of Volunteer Hours/ Participation
** This is where they are wanting you to keep a detailed log of how many hours and which parents have participated in volunteering through their child's class rooms.
Business Related Expenses, Shipping and Receiving
BUSINESS RELATED EXPENSES
** Keep Expense reports
** Reimburse teachers, principals etc., that have bought school supplies, or paid for things on field trips etc., out of their own pocket. Make sure that you have proof of all of these expenses.
SHIPPING AND RECEIVING
** They are probably talking couriers. All you have to do is package materials to be sent out either with envelopes, or in packages and then fill out a courier slip.
** For incoming couriers you accept the package, and then you sign the slip that they give you.
