Is there a legal document that can cancel a contract between a homeowner and contractor?
Asked by Pinoytoits
If the contractor did not perform as per plan and specs, what is the legal way (or documentation) to cancel the contract? Executing a Waiver Of Liens is not an option because the contractor does not want to cooperate and sign the release. Please help.

Best Answer:
Legally you cannot cancel the contract.....you must let the contractor finish the work first....then you can perfom actions...go to the CSLB website for info :)

Fire the contractor and let him take you to court. If you win you have no problem. If you don't, you will have to pay the contract or an agreed portion of it in order to not have a lien against the property.
