How much does a waitress make in tips usually?

I just started my new waitress job, today was training, it was only 2.5 hours. and i made just over 6$ on tips. Saturday im working a 10 hour shift (may the lord be with me) How much tips does one usually get on a shift like that? -business is average, not too slow, not too busy

That's a really tough question to answer but I'm going to go out on a limb and say you'll make $40 on your 10 hour shift. The thing is this is your first day. You may get some "pity" tips from people or you may not. You hopefully won't have a full section on your first day. Waitressing is good money if you like it. Give it a chance too! It's very challenging and you have to hang in there if it gets tough. You'll be surprised how fast you remember things and get used to things. well if you were only training, you wouldn't be expected to make much...but on a normal shift, $6 is pretty terrible. tips will vary on the type of restaurant, how much business you get, and how many other waitresses are working. the more of you working, the less you will probably make because you will get less tables. i waitress at a pretty fancy place and usually make anywhere from 60-100 a night in tips.

It depends on the type of restaurant that you're working at. It could be anywhere between 50$ and 100$ a shift.
