Anyone had a job as a restaurant server where ladies had to wear heels?
Asked by sunny_happy_daisy
I have been a server for a while and I just got a new job at a restaurant that has a more professional appearance. I was not surprised when my my black non-slip sneakers were not acceptable but I am little surprised I am supposed to wear shoes with a heel. Even in the most comfortable shoes on earth my feet still hurt after a long shift and I cannot image the heels. I ordered a pair that are work shoes and plane to get some good insoles but I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Any tips to keep my feet from killing me?
I ended up getting these since the other ones looked heavy and clunky. http://www.shoesforcrews.com/sfc3/index.cfm?changeWebsite=US_en&route=c_store.viewDetailsOfProduct&partnumber=3602
Oh I just saw these on the site http://www.shoesforcrews.com/sfc3/index.cfm?changeWebsite=US_en&route=c_store.viewDetailsOfProduct&partNumber=9068 I completely missed them because they were not in the dress shoes category..maybe I should try and call and change my order.

They can't make you wear heels because they can be very unhealthy and many women can't wear them, but they can specify no sneakers. The second pair don't look fancy enough if they are specifying dress shoes. If you have a slip and fall accident wearing heels, I would sue their butts off though for creating an unsafe work environment.
They also can't make you wear heels since it is a gender specific dress code, but this can be fuzzy.
Who cares what shoes the waitstaff wears?

Sometimes it comes with the job. A lot of the high crust establishments require formal semi formal wear.........
