How to handle a mouthy, lazy, bossy kid that may turn to foreman?
Asked by detech69
I got lucky and started a job in a machine shop which works with metal and aluminum. I've only been there about 2 and a half months. All the men in this shop just started too earlier this year. Two of the men have more experience in CNC and various machines. I was hired in as a general machine operator. Having NO metal experience what so ever either. Now our foreman was involved in a car accident in which he probably will not come back (suppose he is suing). The new man incharge is a former marine. Now we have this 22 year old who has a motor mouth, does not stop talking, never picks up a broom, talks sh*t 100% of the time, and always downs someone for making slight errors. He also never takes responsibilities for his mistakes. He will always find an excuse that someone else did it. There have also been several occasions that where the Marine almost punched him, me and this kid have gotten into each others face on multiple times. This kid is also a con (been arrested several times under different names, been in a state prison, been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon). He slacks off so much that myself and two others have to pick up his work for him. Myself and the marine have both gone to management about him several times. They can't find a replacement, even with 100,000++++ people unemployed around this area. My question is when these two men end up leaving within a month, should I stick around and just deal with this kid until I find other employment? This kid will be put in charge so who ever is left over at the end of this month. More than likely he will just order us around and he will screw off like he already does. Or until we exchange fists? Or quit (using lack of management dealing with harassment) as a reason for unemployment ? I am truly grateful to even have a job, however dealing with this kid is not worth it for the summer or until I find something else. All suggestions and opinions will be appreciated

If you have no other means of financial support and you are currently relying on others, say your parents for food and housing; then stay on at this job while still looking for another job elsewhere. Again, do not engage in any fights with any supervisor, until you can quit and go to another more suitable job offering. Good luck!

Kicking his ass after work wouldn't be a bad idea along with the other two guys but ... that might work out ... you can also just ignore him and not listen to anny of his orders and for god sake don't pick up the slack for that little basturd, but kicking his ass after work with the other 2 guys sounds a lot more fun :).
