How much does a Co-Manager at an upscale retail store make (Similar to a Banana Republic )?
Asked by Shopgrl2009
-With a B.A. degree from a top school on the East Coast - 3+ years of retail experience - Less than a year of retail management experience The job would be Full Time . I would be paid a salary not hourly wages. The position would be a promotion- I would be working for the same company I presently work for.

look at salary.com on careerbuilder.com. Retail is not known for high incomes or pay and has long hours to boot. They also feel downturns the quickest in most cases unless you are at a Target, Costco or Wal-Mart [deep discounters who do massive volume]. I would start my application submissions at those three [in that order]. I know a Target manager who is making $50k/yr. after 3 years and is in his early 20's. If the company will pay for tuition assistance and you work on an advanced management degree is will gain you an additional $10-20k a year as well as advancement potential once you graduate. Am MBA can bring you up as much as 40% depending on which college you get it from [Harvard = #1, , Stanford = #3 www.gradschools.com] to an eventual $100k income [plus].

You'd probably make less than $30k a year. The store manager probably pulls in a little less than $40k. Retail salary is based on sales volume. The best money is in big box retailers like Best Buy, Target, etc.
