Very hard to answer indeed. Perhaps u can be reasonably sure that an accounts graduate knows finance (at least corporate finance, which concerns how the finances of a corporation are managed). Whereas a finance graduate, although must know some accounting, may not know accounting in as much depth as an accounts graduate does. A finance graduate, beyond knowing corporate finance, knows many other specializations in finance that an accounts graduate might know know so much. These include financial economics, financial econometrics, investment etc. No offence intended, but there are many courses that combine both accounting and finance, so such graduates have the best of both worlds. However, you can reasonably be sure that an accounts graduate can do finance job but a finance major (without much accounts background) seldom employed to be an accountant!
