I am a Supervisor in a large company. What is the proper way to send an employee home for not following order? I have this one employee who is constantly disrespecting my position and sometimes even in front of her other co-workers who are also under me. What is the proper way to send him home? What if he refuses to leave and just continues to work? Do I pull his ID / Badge for the day I send him home?

Best Answer:
Ask your personnel dept. for your company's policy.

A:
Warn him that if he does "X" he will be sent home without pay. The first time for the remainder of the day. Next time 3 days. If he refuses to leave call personnel and fire him immediately. Check to see if personnel has a procedure you must follow.

A:
1. Verbal warning- state the order that you wish to be followed, and the consequences if it is not followed- i.e. written warning, resulting in being sent home for the rest of the shift without pay, and possible dismissal from job because of actions. 2. Written warning- refer to verbal warning- as noted on XX, you have failed to comply with this order. As a result, you are being sent home for the remainder of your shift, without pay. You sign, employee signs, you keep original for your file, employee take copy home 3. The shift after the written warning/being sent home, call the employee out for a one on one meeting. Ask the employee if he or she understands the reasons for being sent home, and again go over the reason why he or she was sent home. Set up an action plan, sign it, have the employee sign it. Let the employee know that this is the last chance, and that they will be fired if it happens again.

Yes, you can send an employee home for insubordination. I would document your findings. If the employee refuses to go home call security and have him escorted out & take his badge and then suspend him for insubordination. I do not understand why this employee is still employed at your location. Do you have progressive disciplinary steps, if so follow them and document. If you are in a union environment follow the steps according to the contract and discuss the finding with the union rep.

A:
If there is a computer involved make sure you get all the information off of it before sending the employee home. If he/she is disrespectful then pull the badge and look at the employee like Donald Trump and say You're Fired. that is all there is to it.
