Definately apply for an internship at a radio or news station in your area. In fact, apply to them all. You may also check with your local camera stores and photography studios to offer to assist them, paid or not. The experience will be much richer than any money that you could receive. Good for you for knowing what you want at your age and taking the intiative to get some experience. You will be much further ahead faster than your peers. Good luck!

A great way to start off in any career is through obtaining admin work or temp/contract work. This will get you experience and companies are far likely to prefer internal candidates when advertising future more relevant vacancies.

write an enthusiastic letter to your local news paper saying you are looking for work exp.
say what area of media you are interested in, such as journalism or photography. say that you are keen to do anything.....make teas...etc
remember lots of other teenagers are wanting the same thing so you have to shine through

What type of media is it you are interested in? If it is film or tv try getting some running work. Not very exciting and you may have to be willing to forgo pay at first, but it gets you on sets. You'd be surprised what you can learn just by observing the procedures and roles. Write to some production companies and offer your services. Also keep an eye out on sites such as mandy.com or talentcircle.com which advertise vacancies & opportunities.
If its more journalism you are interested in, I would suggest writing to a local paper asking for work experience.
good luck!

16 - probably nothing - a college degree is usually required to get into that industry and it doesn;t pay all that well to start
you should be getting involved with anything remotely related to media in school - school newspaper, yearbook commitee, take photography classes, Audi/Visual related activities

Make babysitting flyers using the computer and put them in the library, people's mailboxes, and grocery stores.
Drum up more business and keep a notebook to schedule when you do get a customer.
Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit.
I called many stores because I am 14 looking for a job. This was the response they gave which makes me happy after looking for so long.
Find a local one go online and apply and go in store to apply or call and ask if they are hiring.
What I did was Google a bunch of business near my home and found their numbers using Google maps or their sites and I called and directly asked if they are hiring and what age do they hire at.
Try local grocery stores, pizza parlors, retail stores, fast food restaurants.

Call your local TV stations and newspapers and ask if they have any summer interview positions. If you have any magazine companies in your town, you should call them too. It will probably be an unpaid internship with the bad economy but you will get experience. Plus if you do a good job, they can reference you for something better next year. The experience will be invaluable for your future career.

Call your radio and television stations or check their websites, most of them have internship positions for high schoolers interested in the field. It will likely be unpaid but will look fantastic on a future resume.
If you want to work at camera and sound, you can also check out theaters in your town and surrounding areas. Theater techs work with lighting, camera operation, and sound. They might be able to take you on as a part-timer or an assistant - and as always, volunteering looks great for you.
If you want photography check around at the photography places nearby. Any places that take photos - even Walgreens or Walmart - can offer you experience in a photo center.
