Career Questions and Answers
What would my major be if I were seeking a career in Environmental Science?
Asked by Nina B
I'm a junior in high school. There isn't too much helpful research on the internet. Environmental Science is such a vast, growing, new field. I need help finding a major if I want to pursue a career which involves helping either in the field, the lab, or in the class room. I just need help.
I want to help the planet. I enjoy doing Earth friendly things. I know its a long shot but i want to end global warming! or at least research it.

this is a very hard question to answer because you didnt say what your interest were.
Environmental science is the combination of the physical chemical biological parts of the environmental.. Meaning you cant just major in environmental science, you have to concentrate in a particular area.
My suggestion would be to major in something engineering based.
Ex.
Chemical Engineering not chemistry
Environmental engineering not environmental science or geology
Engineering will produced more job opportunities and better career growth.
Other than Geology....engineering is the only other field where you can obtain a professional license
BS environmental science (2008)
working on environmental engineering BS
