Is the job market that bad?
Asked by minibikemulisha
I quit my job to relocate a few months ago. I worked as an automotive mechanic and have a 2 year degree. I moved back to my home city, New York. I've been quite picky for the past 3 months and have had several job offers, about 8 and finally took one I wanted. I'm only 23 with little work experience and getting offered okay paying jobs.
I mean, I hear people with master's degrees complaining they can't find a job. Everyone is complaining about it, is the job market really that bad?
I know it's hard to find a job, but is is any harder than is normally is?

I think so...
My dad has a Bachelor's in Business, and he was laid off. 4 months later, no job. Job offers have been coming out of state for awhile, but nothing around here.
I was also laid off. I was in customer service for awhile. I am currently in school for an Associates.
Several of my friends have been laid off as well, particularly in the IT field, and one friend is getting the news she may be laid off and she's a nurse aid.
I am majoring in Health care, and around here, health care is going down hill too. It's horrible. You come across so many ads for going back to school, but where will that get you?? Almost every kind of business is just deteriorating.
Jobs are very scarce anymore. I can't even get a job at McDonald's around here. It's very frustrating.
