I was laid off of work and was looking into taking care of children in my home. What are the requirements for your home? Fenced in back yard, smoke detectors, child proof cabinets etc.?

You want to look at the regulation for "Child Care Type B Homes" on Ohio State Government's website.
The space requirements are found at:

There are probably additional local requirements depending on where you live in Ohio.

Talk to the health department and to an attorney to see what you need to do legally. Check with your insurance company and see if your house insurance covers you having a child care business in your home. You may need to increase your insurance.
