That 1 year program in Radiation Therapy is for Registered Xray Techs only. Radiation Therapy is therapeutic, it deals with bombarding cancer with high doses of radiation. Radiography is diagnostic, it deals with using ionizing radiation to diagnose fractures and other disorders such as lung cancer, congestive heart failure or the presence of foreign bodies to name a few. Therapists make a little more than Xray Techs.

Radiology is a branch of medicine.
Radiography is one part of the field of radiology that uses radiation (x-rays) to produce black-and-white images of anatomy. The images are captured on film, computer or videotape. X-rays may be used to detect bone fractures, find foreign objects in the body, and demonstrate the relationship between bone and soft tissue.
Basically, a radiographer is the person who takes x-rays, and a radiation therapist administers treatment to cancer patients. You would need to be a radiographer first to get into a 1 year radiation therapy program, otherwise it would be 2 years. Actually I have checked into radiation therapy programs, and even though I am a radiographer, the 2 year option is the best.
