Hi In a Bank we have now many segments of business example - Risk Management, Loan, Treasury Management, Cash Management, etc., which are offered to Corporates and Non Corporates. Whether the Corporates/Non Corporates are legally capable of entering the contracts? The First Question a Bank has to answer first before it can sell. This question requires a Legal Officer's help. A Bank has to comply with various legislations; for example in India we have - 1. Companies Act, 1956 2. Banking Regulations Act 3. RBI Notifications 4. Contract Laws 5. Foreign Exchange Management Act, Rules and Regulations 6. Regulations and Rules for Money Market Operations and so on. A Legal Officer assists banks to get compliance with these legal requirements Thus a Legal Officer helps banks to get legal compliances and ensures that it enters contract with persons who are legally fit and in a manner which is legally correct.
