How do I conduct myself at an interview for an Executive Assistant position that is held at a coffee shop?
Asked by danna
Should I be sure to arrive first and pay for my own beverage, not get a beverage? How should I dress? The job listing said the office is a tshirt and flip flops environment - but clearly I know I should not wear this to the interview - is a jacket and dress pants acceptable, or is that over dressed? Help from someone who actually interviews prospective employees in a coffee shop would be great. Thank you.

Do you actual know this company to have a real live business place. I personally have never interviewed at a coffee shop for and EA position but in the office of my business. IF you are sure then wear a nice pair of slacks and blouse, not t-shirt.

I am an employer and meet clients and prospective employees in a coffee shop. Interviews in a coffee shop are rare, I prefer office so they know where they will be working and they know the environment. I believe you may be replacing an existing employee that is why it is off premises. Jacket and dress pants would be acceptable, order a beverage. If he does not pay for the drink, offer. If you have to shell out a dollar or two for a drink that he invited you to, don't take the job, you are just asking for trouble. Good luck

Wear a thong and a fishnet t-shirt, as soon as he arrives, take him in the bathroom and blow him, swallow the load, and I'll bet you'll get the job. Good Luck!

You are being interviewed away from the office because the employer is looking to replace a current employee who is not aware that they are about to be terminated. As far as proper dress, dress professional. I've never heard of any employer having a tshirt and flip flop environment. I tend to think this is a come on to in order to eliminate any candidates who arrive at the interview dressed to fit in a "weekend casual" environment rather than proper business attire.

You should wear something that is business casual, if the environment that you will be working in, is a casual environment. Always make sure that you dress a notch above. This is sometimes the clincher between getting the job and not getting the job. Something that you should wear may include a business casual skirt or business casual slacks, as well as a blouse and a blazer, but if you wear a blazer, make sure that it is a casual one, as some of them can be very professional looking. Also if you have long hair, make sure that you have your hair tied up, and if you're going to wear makeup, then put a little bit on only, and if you're going to wear fragrance, where very little, and get the most natural smelling one. No heavily strong perfume should be used. Also, not much jewelry. For shoes you can either wear a pair of pumps, or sandals that are professional looking. No Flip Flips and no t-shirts for your interview! I have been on interviews before where the employer has actually bought the food item for me. There was one time when I went to meet with a librarian, and they bought lunch for me. If they offer, just say okay, and then buy something that is not too cheap, but is not the most expensive item on the list either. Something moderately priced would be okay. I hope that this has helped.
