whats the protocol for becoming a Correctional Officer in North Carolina?
Asked by LaLa
I actually live in NJ and ive been working as a security officer for almost a year an a half so I have that experience under my belt. Im supposed to be relocating to greensboro,NC towards the end of the year. I know that jobs are scarce down there and I have been interested in becoming a correctional officer when i get down there. But I wanted to know if I would be able to apply right away or will I have to wait however long it is to become an official NC resident before I can even apply. How does that work? Does anybody work as a correctional officer in NC?? Or know anybody who does?? Should I wait till I get there and apply or Should I do an application beforehand?? Thanx in Advance for all opinions/advice!!!! Does anybody know of a number I can call to get more info??

Congratulations on your decision to leave New Jersey! I recently did, and moved to NC. My friend was interested in going to school for Criminal Justice down here. She spoke w/ a local officer who said that Stokes Country was on a hiring freeze. As soon as you get down here, get your license changed to show you are a NC resident. Get a mailing address. You will need the title to your car to get your car registered and NC plates. Also, let your car insurance carrier know right away, your car insurance rates will be blissfully low down here, as compared to New Jersey. Also, be sure to register with your Country Re-employment center. They can assist you in finding jobs in your field. Best of luck to you, and I'm glad you are getting "the hell out of Dodge"!

If you get a referance from Rick Ross they will give you a job almost immediately.
