extend dates of employment of resume?
Asked by donwillymo
I've got this pesky warehouse clerk temp job I did for 5 months that really doesn't pertain to my financing and business career. Before I did that I was working at a bank which I would prefer to extend over the temp job. Would this be okay being it was only 5 months. Does HR even look up dates?

I have not had someone check the dates exactly, EVER, but there is a slim chance it could hurt you if for some reason they do. It's only 5 months, so I would erase the temp job and add the months to your bank job, personally, but it is a personal choice to be honest or to lie. You take a risk either way.

Most likely they will call your former employers who will most likely give them a few facts including how long and when you worked there and possibly your salary. There is also an employment database much like a crdit bureau that tracks peoples employment and if you are in there at that employer, they may find out your employment dates that way also (not everyone is in the database for every employer).
