How much do Gardner White Furniture salesmen make?
Asked by desktopmayhem2008
I was offered the job, I'm not sure if i should take it. I currently work on salary and make only around 28k a year. The store I was offered a job at is a 5% commission of every sale plus "spiffs" They also offer bonuses for achieving certain goals like reaching 750k in sales and what not. Should i make the switch? If you work for the company, do you think its a good idea for me to switch?

As a first year Gardner-White salesperson you can expect to make between $35,000 and $50,000 a year. We pay a base commission of 5% plus spiff and bonus. Spiffs are paid in addition to commission. Spiffs average between 2% and 4% of the items retail. Mattresses, and protections typically pay spiffs. Additional bonuses are paid once you deliver over $60,000 a month. We pay all spiffs and commissions weekly. There is no need for draws because we don't hold your money. President's Club and Elite Club are awards for sales persons who deliver over $750,000 a year. These Club members earn substantial cash bonuses. If you would like additional information please feel free to contact me at barbtronstein@gmail.com.

The average retail furniture salesperson makes between 25k and 50K annually. The outstanding performers who have been with a company for a long time can make between 85k-150k. 5 % is not a high commission rate so there are other considerations. Is this draw against commission ? What is the store's total volume. Is it a busy store? How big is the store and how many sales people on the floor? This will determine how many "ups" you'll get per day. Also, its not easy work. You will need really comfortable shoes and lots of patience dealing with furniture buyers. Both before and after the sale. On the up side it can be alot of fun and if you are very capable you can do exceedingly well.
