Island Girl
With the recession going on, is there still a good chance for dental hygienist hiring in California?
Asked by Island Girl
I heard dentists are no longer hiring dental hygienist to cut on costs.

No because I am a hygienist on the other coast and there are no jobs. Also dentists want hygienists who have been working for years. It is a catch 22. They want someone with experience but wont hire someone for them to gain experience. As people lose jobs they lose dental insurance and only visit the dentist when they are in pain.

A:
i highly doubt it because everyone is going to go to the dentist because most everyone has health insurance. besides offices that support the state paid health plans for low income ppl (those who get free health ins.) will always need dental hygt's. i would think that it is a good field to go into. ask your dentist about it.

Hygenists is one of those fields that would not be cut. Hygenists are similar to that of practitioners. The ones that they would likely cut if they had to cut something would be the dental assistants.
