I work for Wal*Mart, and no it's not difficult to get hired as a cashier. I'm cashier-trained, and I think it's fun. Wal*Mart hires better than the supermarkets and department stores. If you don't have experience, Wal*Mart does not have a problem with teaching you how to work the register.
Most retailers say how they hire people whithout experience, and then they teach you how to do the job. But when I was job searching, I found out, that most retailers just don't want to teach new hires. They will team you up with other cashiers until you know everything. It takes time though to learn the register.
Experience.

Why limit your job searching to just wal-mart? There are alot of places you can get a cashier job, or just any part time job. You need to put yourself out there.
good luck

Unless your receiving welfare they will not hire you. they get money for hiring people who are receiving government assistance. good luck.

I don't think it's hard to get a job at wal-mart with out experience in a better economy, but in the state we're in now companies have the upper hand. If I were you I would try all diff places like home depot and kroger. Cashiering is a very easy job so no experience shouldn't be too much of a problem, just be very confident and build yourself up on your resume.
