What is the average salary of someone working while attending college?
Asked by Light
I want to rent an apartment during college so I can be closer to school, so I'll need to find a job. I'm wondering if I'll be able to afford to rent an apartment with my friend during our college years. I live in Massachusetts where minimum wage is $8.00. I just want to know, how much did/do you make per hour at your job while attending college? Including all other expenses besides rent, like taxes and food and gas and insurance, what price range apartment would my friend and I be able to afford? How many hours per week do you work during college?

Well that is totally unpredictable, Currently am attending school online cause I need to support myself; and I know that I would not be able to afford to go to school and pay my bills. I do have a friend that does go to school and work, and he makes $9.50. He does not pay everything himself, he got a grant you should check into that, each state has its own list of grants. Also check the federal register its alot of reading but it should pay off in the end.

Normally you can expect to earn min. wage during college unless you somehow get a lucky break. As for living, I would suggest looking into mobile home parks. They normally give you more space for less rent. You just have to but a trailer (some places rent them) and lot rent is normally anywhere from $150 to $700 per month. You get more room, more freedom, and more privacy than an apartment gets you for a price that is normally lower.

Good old Taxachusetts. I live in mass and i wouldn't hold your breath. The living here is expensive, and the best pay you will get right now has to be 8 an hour. When i was in college i lived in mommies basement. Me and my friend did the rent thing and it didn't work out. He would go months without paying a bill and i was stuck with it. I just gave up and moved back in until the remainder of my college year. I made 11$ by the way. I worked 3rd shift and got cheated out of pay.

I made more then than now. I was a bartender in a casino town. Wich means when people would gamble and win money, they tipped BIG. Made about $1200 a week in tips and $350 in a paycheck. I would love to be making that now!
