Can anyone think of any good jobs for an army wife without a degree?
Asked by Amanda D
A little background info: I am 24 years old and my husband is in the Army. We got married when I was a 21 year old college student and were immediatly sent to Germany for 3 years. So I have not finished my degree, havent worked in 3 years, and before that never had a "real" job. Just parttime stuff typical of a student. So now that Im married and have a husband to go home to every night, I do not want to work at some horrible retail place like Walmart or Target where they expect you to be available 24/7, do nothing but work, and treat you like an expendable mindless cog. I worked at Target for about 3 days before I couldnt stand it anymore. I want a more mature, respectable job that values their employees and values their employee's families. Someplace where all my co workers arent teenagers. lol. Basically I want a regular 9 to 5 job, without the degree. So far all Ive been able to come up with is bank teller, hotel front desk clerk, or some kind of data management in an office. I dont think Im the office kind of person. Maybe like a hostess at a restraunt for the lunch service. I dont know. I hope Ive given a good idea of what Im wanting, so any ideas of just something I maybe havent thought of would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well unfortuantley because you don't have any work experience, or degree the places that will hire you will be places you probably don't won't to work(like Wal Mart, McDonalds etc). As for a place that respects their employees and employee's family that's hard to find! However here are a couple things that aren't office related. 1. Flagger for construction company-usually 9-5ish although some start earlier. You get to work on your tan. However it is monotonous and hard as you stand all day! 2. Work for the state- They are always looking for minorities and as a woman you qualify! However being that you don't have a degree you'll most likely have to work at the DMV, or the DOT. 3. School Bus Driver- Most schools are always looking for bus drivers. They'll even train you(most of them), if not check local community colleges or trade schools for training. Its not as hard as you think to drive a bus, however not everyone can stand screaming kids. But if you do get your CDL B you can also get a job driving dump truck if school buses aren't your thing. Good luck

Many hotels are looking for third shift Night Auditors. This is an ideal job for a military wife because it cuts down on the babysitter if the hubby is home at night. Good Customer Service skills and the will to stay up for 8 hours all night are the first 2 requirements. Other skills are needed such as basic computer, calculator, and walkie-talkie. It is a serious job that can offer many extra benefits, including social gatherings to talk about third shift auditing.
