Applied to AmeriCorps Vista program, should I contact the program manager?

I just applied to an AmeriCorps Vista position that I really really really want to do. I just sent in my application. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to contact the program manager to the program so that they can get to know me and look out for my application. Do you think that is a good idea? I just graduated from college this may.

You should wait at least 7 days from the time you applied to try to establish contact w/job corp. When you make call - just ask if your application was received, period. You can ask Who is the hiring manager by name, and wait another week for another call to see if your application was reviewed. After that, one more call to inquire if job was filled.
