physical therapist assistant program only accepts TWENTY people once a year and over 5000 people apply?

what the heck, that is very competitive. i haven't been back to college in four years and i was looking at becoming a physical therapist assistant but how the heck am i supposed to get in with those odds. any physical therapist assistants here?? how did you get in with such a competitive field. i am looking at schools in illinois by the way.

That sounds high. 20 seems appropriate but 5000 seems wrong. Try a different school. Apply early. Talk to the head of the dept.

Check with your state's re-education programs. I lost my 21-year manufacturing job last December, and found a state-funded program for people like me. They paid a local Tech school to add an intensive 2 month training program in Phlebotomy (drawing blood in a lab). I finished it today, just over 12 weeks after I started. Health care is booming, and many schools/states are teaming up to overcome that waiting list. Look into it!
