What is a medical receptionist?
Asked by rtjk1
I mean, is it basically a receptionist that works in a medical centre? Or is it something much harder, something you need a degree for and certain education and must be knowledgeable about every disease and medication, etc? I hope it's the first one since I'd like to apply for that kind of job, and I do have receptionist experience. But I don't have any medical experience.

I went to a vocational school for a few months to become a medical receptionist and got a certificate for it. It is called Medical Administrative. They train you on billing and coding, medical terminology, and basic office computer programs that most offices use for appointments and surgery scheduling. There is allot more to it than just answering a phone it is also having the patients to stand on hold forever get confirmation with insurances companies and things like that. I live in Ohio and rarely will a Medical Office hire someone without the certificate or past MAS experience
