Yes it is possible. Most of the positions in Merchant Navy are filled up by persons having a mechanical or electrical engineering background. But it will help your case, if you can obtain a degree or diploma from one of the Marine Engineering colleges, as they specifically concentrate on the knowledge related to the job.
