Check Craigslist, local newspaper, Yahoo HotJobs, Monster, CareerBuilder, etc. Most listings for construction/labor will probably be on Craigslist. If your dad specializes in roofing, go thru the yellowpages and look up the website for each company to see if they have any employment listings. Don't contact these companies on your dad's behalf because that will have a negative impact for your dad. If they have openings, print them out for your dad so he can apply in person...makes a better impression than applying by email. Another job board is iHire Construction. They have a ton of jobs listed (I'm registered with them for drafting/design, non paying member). The BIG downside is most positions are considered "premium" but there are a few free postings. "Premium" positions require paying for a monthly subscription or pay $5 fee for each position viewed. If you don't pay you don't see any information about the job at all. The best luck I've had so far is from Craigslist. I'm in the running right now for a design position at a residential remodeler/contractor. Just waiting to find out if I'm one of the 3-5 that will get a formal interview.
