is it hard to find a job as a security officer?
Asked by Cowboy Bebop
I have been working in an office environment for about 7 years.
I would like a career change. Basically to get a job as a security officer (night shifts) and study. Is it easy to find a job as a security officer in london if i do not have experience and am not a big boy?
I intend to get a course and get a SIA card/certification to work as a security officer.

you do need to get your SIA licence before you can do the job - maybe take on some self defence courses or try and bulk up if you are concerned about the physical side of it.
Why not go and have a chat with your local doormen and see what they say about the job to get a better idea?

The answer is no if you have been qualified to carry a pistol and carry one on the job. That is the high end of the security officer occupation.

i live in a fairly small town and even here there are alot of security jobs
try going to some of the larger companies or if there is a prison near you they will always need guards there
just be careful in seeking the security job that you are comfortable with the job description sometimes they dont disclose what is expected of you until after you are hired that is information you need to get up front trust me many women in my area have worked as security guards and check with the place where you go to train sometimes they can place you with a job
