How do nursing licensure work if you move to a different state?
Asked by lizzie23
I'm in an LPN program that starts this month and it's a year long program. Once I complete the program I can take the state boards. I live in Florida but I don't think I want to stay in Florida once I complete school. Do I have to take the state board exam for which ever state I move to? How does this work?

Ask one of your instructors or contact your local vocation nursing board, Some states take license's from others, my wisconsin license is good in a few other states says on my license multi-state go to google put on Florida vocational nurses board, maybe you can find your answer which states, I believe Florida is one of the states. if not look for a contact phone number and call and ask, if yourlicense is good in any other state, or will be should i say If not , no big, deal All you do after you graduate and you decide you want to move to a state that is not recipical, you contact your local board, you will have the contact info by then. and ask them how to go about, getting a license in another state usually in my experience have had license's in 5 different states you file out forms pay fees , wait and boom that is about it you don't have to take any tests again
