PLEASE ANSWER! Do you really need to have a good physique for a job as a security guard?
Asked by Ryan P
I'm talking about being a security guard at a mall, airport, office building, condo or apartment building. I'm not a muscular person. I am relatively skinny but I'm still physically healthy and I can lift 50 kg, maybe even more. I already asked this question. I just wanted to get some more opinions.

No, Remember your job is to only observe and report, not to get physical. So this would mean a good physique is not required. Actually most Security Firms don't allow their workers to get involved with situations, some only tell you to just call the police. Although it is good to be well built, b/c you may find yourself in a situation were you need to defend yourself and use force. This is most common for armed guards and bouncers, were they find themselves in constant danger

Go to any big building at night and take a look at the typical security guard sitting at the desk munching his donut. That should answer your question.

Good god no! The only thing most security guards can do is call for help. I swear I've seen them at 400lbs + as well as the other end of the spectrum.
