Asked by Rocker-Hippie
And if anyone could describe what it's like being a waitress that would be great. Thanks a lot. How do you remember what table your waiting? By people? They don't have numbers on them so....... I don't understand that part.

It really does not madder. I would prefer you stay at a good restaurant be a good waitress. Have a good attitude. Be on your best behavior. It is type of an experience. Then when you get promoted to full time waitress. Than team leader. Also assistant manager. Than the life time experience becoming a manager. It is fun being a waitor. You will get the hang of it soon.

Not much, it depends on the place. Most likely wouldn't need a high school diploma, once again this depends on the restauraunt, as there are some very high scale places where it may be different. However, for most places you will take the customers order, bring it to the cooks, then take the food out to the customers when its ready. Typically you must get and refil drinks in a timely manner, and always have a smile on your face. It can be diffilcult dealing with people, as the waitress/waiter you kind of put in the middle between the customer and the cooks which can be frustrating too.

I agree with TC. It really doesn't take much to be a waitress. Ask people what they want, make sure the cook makes it right, keep drinks filled, and keep smiling no matter what. Oh and the tips may not always be great, but it evens out after the weekend. Simple right? But FYI, it might be difficult to find a waitressing job right now. Every place I walk into already has at least twenty other applicants waiting when I get there. Competition for just one open position is steep. I have four years experience serving in upscale restaurants, two years bartending, a Bachelor's degree and I've been looking for over two months. Best of luck to you!
