How old do you have to be to waitress in michigan ?

Im almost 14 (i know i cant waitress yet), but how old you have to be to waitress at places in michigan like a coney island or a sit in pizza place, you know, something casual ? Thanks a lot(:

It is legal for you to work at 14. the manager at the restaurant gets to decide on the hiring age. Since they are getting so many applications, you will see them hiring mostly 18 year olds. At 14 you can not work during school hours or late at night. You may have to work as a dishwasher or busser. Then sub in for the first waiter who gets sick or quits. Then you could waitress at 14 and show them how hard you work.

Family owned, small restaurant hires around 15 sometimes. Many other places hire at 16. If they serve alcohol you have to be 18. Larger chains will also require you to be 18.
