.
Do you think being a dental assistant is a good job?
Asked by .
I am just out of high school. I should be getting accepted into the dental assistant program by fall 2010. Entry salary is 25,000 to 30,000 a year. I am an average student, receive no financial aid because my parents "make too much", and this is the only program in my area that doesn't have a 3 or 4 year waitlist. Is this a good paying job?

Dentistry is an awesome field and very interesting. I am a dental hygienist and I love the field, BUT, because I live in Michigan, there are no jobs here. I have done some surgical assisting at a Periodontist office and it was really cool. Why not get a job as an assistant prior to getting into the program because you may like it so much that you will want to go on to dental school. (if I were 16 years younger and knew then what I know now, I would have gone to school to be a dentist!)

A:
yes -visit the local community college to learn what pre reqs are necessary for the program.
